Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

You may or may not have helped me.
Curious? Good. Two months ago, I asked you to complete an evaluation for me, called a 360 evaluation – having people above, beside, and below me give me a rating on 30 different questions. Then there were two open-ended questions at the end. I have finally finished evaluating the results. Thanks to those of you who responded! If you didn’t respond, but you’re still around at CPC, you have helped me too. Thanks!
One of the main lessons I learned from this evaluation is that I can improve in my pastoral care for members of CPC. Many of the open responses at the end (about 30 percent) stated that I can do better at caring. Now, when I read that, I was initially offended. I feel like I do a lot of caring and investing in others. Then I thought about it. Who do I spend my time investing in? I realized that most of the caring that I do is for people outside of my beloved congregation, CrossPoint Community. Having been at the church for 17 years, I have connections with lots of people outside of CPC. In terms of time allotted, my attention and care go into ministry leaders outside of or only occasionally connected to CPC (the Children’s Minister, a Seminarian, HBtoo! Fellowship, Area Pastors’ groups, an Area Minister, Pre-marital counseling, the Empower (College Student) Fellowship, and a friend with extra needs). Sure, I took time when I first started (in 2021 and 2022), to try to meet with each member, but that was one conversation or two.
This summer, as I visit other churches, I intend to ask the pastors I meet how they practice pastoral care for the members of their congregation. I plan to (and hope to) come back from my Sabbatical with a renewed focus and attention to pastoral care.
Take Note: This is the last update before my Sabbatical. Elder Wu will be sending out updates throughout the summer. I’ll be back to providing updates in September. If you do need to talk with a church leader while I’m on Sabbatical, reach out to Elder Wu, Minister Charles, Minister Jin or the Senior Pastor, Sean Lee.

Starting tonight, a group of 27 of the Mobile Baptist Builders will be staying at CBCGL. We are looking for bedding (Pillows, Sheets and Towels) which they can use (So that they don’t have to travel with those items). If you could bring those items to church tonight, Friday, May 30, that would be great. For more information, please contact Min. Charles or Deacon Huadong Sun.

Please continue to pray for the nations of Israel and Ukraine and South Sudan. Pray that the wars would end and the ceasefire in Gaza would be reinstated. Here is a suggested list of prayers if you are at a loss for words in how to pray: https://send.org/story/hh_pray_for_ukraine. And https://worldrelief.org/blog-prayer-for-israel-and-gaza/ And here are other prayers for peace in general: https://worldrelief.org/prayers-for-peace-in-the-world/ Thank you for kneeling on behalf of the people of Ukraine and Russia, Israel and Gaza and Lebanon, Sudan and South Sudan, and taking a stand (or a knee in prayer) against the forces of darkness in this present age.

4. Each Wednesday, such as this coming week (June 4) at 7:45 pm, you are invited, encouraged, and requested to join our weekly prayer meeting. We will not grow in Christ without growing in our dependence on God through prayer. The link is found below in the section on prayer.

Administration / Events

1. We have a missions update (so check out the missions tab in the bulletin)! You can pray for Rick and Jennifer Bell serving in Thailand. Their recent update is from April. Pray for Myanmar, particularly as they continue to recover from the massive earthquake back in March. For more information, check out the missions tab of the bulletin. Also, if you’d like to help with providing mission updates for CPC – let Pastor Nathan know!

2. CPCM has reserved the Multi-Purpose Room on Saturday’s from 1:30 to 4PM for sports. In general, we can play any game: Ping-pong, badminton, pickleball, volleyball, basketball; we can do it all. The room is reserved only for CPCM members and their guests, so it is highly likely you will have lots of space and time to play whatever you want. The goal is to build deeper bonds through shared interest and activity. The contact person is Joshua Zhang.

3. Sunday Lunch Service is available at CBCGL with $5 lunches that are first-come, first-served. Pizza is $2 per slice and Ramen is available (priced variously according to size). Lunch service ends after June 15 and returns in September 2025.

4. Women’s Bible Study – “KEEPING IT VERTICAL” meets the first and third Tuesday of each month to learn, share and grow in the Lord. It resumes on Sept. 2nd, 2025.

5. VBS Registration is open for CBCGL’s VBS held August 4-8 (It’s Full Day this year!). To register please follow this link. Also, the VBS committee is looking for materials to make decorations. You can find that announcement here.

6. All other announcements can be found here (in our CrossPoint Community bulletin).

For Prayer:

1. From Bishop J.C. Ryle – “To be prayerless is to be Christless, Godless, and in the high road to destruction…It will always be found that when prayers are few, grace, strength, peace, and hope are small.” Please join our Wednesday night prayer meeting (7:45 – 9:00 pm) even if you can’t participate the whole time.
