Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
This update is going to be more practical. I want to let you know about recent or upcoming events so that you are informed! But my long-term goal is that you would be more than informed, you would be transformed by the renewing of your mind (Rom. 12:2) so that you may discern what is the will of God. In the meantime, here’s what is coming up.
Tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 27 – join the Hobby Bunch or the Open Gym from 1:30 to 4 pm at CBCGL!
On Sunday, Sept. 28, we will have our regular Sunday School. We will have the class on Apologetics in A-216 and the Connection Hour in A-202. We have finished up our Combined Sunday School on Vision Seeking and the process is moving to the Pastor, Elder, Deacon group. Pray for us to have a unified heart and mind and good understanding as we meet this coming Sunday afternoon!
Also, this coming Sunday, Sept. 28, CBCGL is going to have our first ever fire drill. Some quick reminders: When you hear the alarm, exit the building in an orderly fashion at the closest exit. Please help those who are less mobile to make it down the stairs if you are up on the 2nd floor. Also, leave your belongings inside. If it were a real fire situation, you don’t want to stay in the building to collect your belongings. We will be given the “All clear” to return before we can re-enter the building. So even if the alarm stops sounding, please wait to enter the building until given instructions. And if you have children in the Kids Ministry, do not go to pick up your kid(s). You can do so following the end of the worship service (as I assume the drill will happen before the end of the worship service).
Also this coming Sunday, Sept. 28, our congregation, CrossPoint Community is responsible, along with the UMass Lowell fellowship to help to clean up the cafeteria. We need to wipe down tables, stack the chairs, sweep and mop the floor, and take our trash. We need to do the same, if applicable, in the kitchen. That begins at 1:15 pm after lunch.
Finally, if you’ve been around for a while, you may remember that we have done a Town Hall meeting for CrossPoint once in April and once in October. Well, it was decided by the CrossPoint Community Ministry Committee that we will not have our October meeting since we already have a congregational meeting at the end of October. So, we still have Sunday School hour on October 5. Hope to see you then!
Please continue to pray for the nations of Israel and Ukraine and South Sudan. Here is a suggested list of prayers if you are at a loss for words in how to pray: https://send.org/story/hh_pray_for_ukraine. And https://worldrelief.org/blog-prayer-for-israel-and-gaza/ And here are other prayers for peace in general: https://worldrelief.org/prayers-for-peace-in-the-world/ Thank you for kneeling on behalf of the people of Ukraine and Russia, Israel and Gaza and Lebanon, Sudan and South Sudan, and taking a stand (or a knee in prayer) against the forces of darkness in this present age.
Further announcements can be found in the weekly spotlight. And other church wide announcements can be found in our weekly bulletin.
For Prayer:
1. From Bishop J.C. Ryle – “To be prayerless is to be Christless, Godless, and in the high road to destruction…It will always be found that when prayers are few, grace, strength, peace, and hope are small.” Please join our Wednesday night prayer meeting (7:45 – 9:00 pm) even if you can’t participate the whole time.
