Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

First, thanks! Thanks to those of you who helped to clean the cafeteria on Sunday. Things went quickly and smoothly. We were able to use our energy and skills to serve! Thank you. Also, a thank you for being orderly and following directions during CBCGL’s first-ever fire drill last weekend.
Second, we are in Exodus for the next few months during our Sunday worship. Last week, we talked about two types of fear – a fear that leads us to oppose God and a fear that leads us to obey God. Which of these two types of fear directs your behavior most often? Often, the first fear is rooted in self-preservation. But our God is self-giving. The first fear leads to hurting others, but our God rescues and heals. The first fear opposes God and his purposes.
The second type of fear is the fear of the Lord, where we want to please God. We are in awe and wonder of God’s incredible character, and we seek to obey God. This fear is rooted in a focus on God, who is self-sufficient. This fear leads to doing good to others, joining God in helping and healing. This fear obeys God and seeks to fulfill his purposes. May God grant you a greater fear of Him, a more consistent obedience, and a deeper love for God and others.
Third, there are a few things that are not happening in the coming weeks. For example, we are not having a town hall for CrossPoint Community in October, though we have in past years. Instead, we will have Sunday School this Sunday. Moreover, on October 10, there will be no Friday Night Fellowship / Bible Study due to the holiday weekend.
Finally, if you want to know what we are covering on Friday Nights or Sundays, look in the CPC Announcement Tab in the Bulletin, which you can access through the link below. We will not be updating the weekly spotlight each week, but will update the CPC announcement tab monthly.

Please continue to pray for the nations of Israel and Ukraine and South Sudan. Here is a suggested list of prayers if you are at a loss for words in how to pray: https://send.org/story/hh_pray_for_ukraine. And https://worldrelief.org/blog-prayer-for-israel-and-gaza/ And here are other prayers for peace in general: https://worldrelief.org/prayers-for-peace-in-the-world/ Thank you for kneeling on behalf of the people of Ukraine and Russia, Israel and Gaza and Lebanon, Sudan and South Sudan, and taking a stand (or a knee in prayer) against the forces of darkness in this present age.

Further announcements can be found in the weekly spotlight. And other church wide announcements can be found in our weekly bulletin.

For Prayer:

1.From Bishop J.C. Ryle – “To be prayerless is to be Christless, Godless, and in the high road to destruction…It will always be found that when prayers are few, grace, strength, peace, and hope are small.” Please join our Wednesday night prayer meeting (7:45 – 9:00 pm) even if you can’t participate the whole time.
