Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
This week, I’m preaching to the Children. I’ll be talking to them about the incredible, immeasurable, undefinable power of God. The power of God will also be something that Elder Jeremy will be preaching on from Exodus 9. The same power of God was on display this week through displays of color due to solar eruptions, making the night sky painted in swaths of reddish, greenish, and yellowish hues.
There is nothing impossible for our God. But we tend to forget that truth. It’s easy to be overwhelmed by our circumstances or by things not going as we expect (think Moses’ first encounter with Pharaoh). But the God who invites us to call him “Father” is able to do anything, far more than we can ask or imagine.
As we look forward to the next few years at CPC, we are aiming at equipping the next generation to advance God’s kingdom. This is not something we can make happen in our own strength. We need to rely on God to give us guidance and also the strength and resolve to do what we feel like He is calling us to do.
My hope and prayer for you is that you would know the power of God at work in your life and through your life. You can hear about the work of God in people’s lives through the upcoming 88th Baptism and Child Dedication Ceremony happening at 1:30 pm on Sunday, November 16. You can also join in seeking God’s face and relying on his power through prayer. As we do so, depending on the Lord and his power, we will see God do his work. We will see God’s kingdom advanced. And we will be able to be part of it, for the glory of God alone.
Please continue to pray for the nations of Israel and Ukraine and South Sudan. Here is a suggested list of prayers if you are at a loss for words in how to pray: https://send.org/story/hh_pray_for_ukraine. And https://worldrelief.org/blog-prayer-for-israel-and-gaza/ And here are other prayers for peace in general: https://worldrelief.org/prayers-for-peace-in-the-world/ Thank you for kneeling on behalf of the people of Ukraine and Russia, Israel and Gaza and Lebanon, Sudan and South Sudan, and taking a stand (or a knee in prayer) against the forces of darkness in this present age.
Further announcements can be found in the weekly spotlight. And other church wide announcements can be found in our weekly bulletin.
For Prayer:
1. From Bishop J.C. Ryle – “To be prayerless is to be Christless, Godless, and in the high road to destruction…It will always be found that when prayers are few, grace, strength, peace, and hope are small.” Please join our Wednesday night prayer meeting (7:45 – 9:00 pm) even if you can’t participate the whole time.
