Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
In the Bible, if there is repetition of an idea or phrase, you can assume that it is something that the Lord wants us to pay attention to. It may even be the main idea of a passage!
This weekend, you might find that there is some repetition of ideas. For example, we are going to start a new Bible Study on Friday night looking at the story of Peter and John healing a crippled man and sharing the gospel. They bring help and hope. They are witnesses of what God has done. Their actions would help them to fulfill our Measure of Christian Maturity 4.D – “How am I seeking to join God in what He is doing beyond Sunday Worship?”
On Sunday morning, we continue in our sermon series on Exodus 18:1-12. Here Jethro, the father-in-law to Moses, hears of all that God has done and he praises God. Moses is a witness of what God has done. Moses actions would help him fulfill our Measure of Christian Maturity 2.C – “How are my words and actions pointing my family members to Christ?”
When was the last time that you were a witness to others of what God has done? And how are you doing fulfilling the measures we have for CPC?

Other announcements: Next Sunday, May 10, is Mother’s Day. CBCGL will be having a combined service that begins in the Main Sanctuary at 9:45 am. There will not be Sunday School, but there will be lunch (probably a little earlier than 12:35 pm).
Now’s the time to help with VBS and Panama STM. You can also bring in supplies for VBS this summer. See the list in the bulletin (Children’s Ministry Tab). Or check out the poster outside of the Main Sanctuary (Great work Jeanne!) You can also bring in pre-k or kindergarten level books which are like new (gently used), in either English or Spanish. CBCGL is collecting 40 of these books to be sent with the Panama STM this summer.
Save the Date for the Youth STM 5K – May 17 at 2 pm!

Please continue to pray for the nations of Iran and Israel/Gaza and Ukraine/Russia and Sudan. Here is a suggested list of prayers if you are at a loss for words in how to pray: https://send.org/story/hh_pray_for_ukraine. And https://worldrelief.org/blog-prayer-for-israel-and-gaza/ And here are other prayers for peace in general: https://worldrelief.org/prayers-for-peace-in-the-world/ Thank you for kneeling on behalf of the people of Ukraine and Russia, Israel and Gaza and Lebanon, and Sudan, and Iran and taking a stand (or a knee in prayer) against the forces of darkness in this present age.

Further announcements can be found in the weekly spotlight. And other church wide announcements can be found in our weekly bulletin

For Prayer:

1. From Bishop J.C. Ryle – “To be prayerless is to be Christless, Godless, and in the high road to destruction…It will always be found that when prayers are few, grace, strength, peace, and hope are small.” Please join our Wednesday night prayer meeting (7:45 – 9:00 pm) even if you can’t participate the whole time.
