Dear CrossPoint Community family,

I pray that this newsletter finds you well. After several days of cold and rain, finally, you will see some sun and experience summer-like weather. Enjoy the nice summer day that our God has made.

Not sure if you notice, the COVID cases are on the rise recently. The following screenshot was extracted from a report dated July 13, 2021, on healthline.com

PC: Healthline: Here’s Where COVID-19 Cases Are Rising and Falling by David Mills (July 13, 2021). Fact checked by Jennifer Chesak.

I was a little surprised to see Massachusetts on the top five rise list. CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) also warns about “vaccine breakthrough cases,” a term used to identify those fully vaccinated people who contract COVID. It is also possible that some fully vaccinated people might have the disease but do not have any symptoms (asymptomatic infections).

The following photo was taken on July 7, 2021, in a tiny interior of a Tiki-Ti bar on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. LA County is one of the regions where the fast-spreading delta variant is prevalent. Their County public health officials have urged people to resume wearing masks indoors regardless of their vaccination status.

While it is best to stay vigilant still, the uncertainty produces anxiety. Proverbs 12:25 says,

25     Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.

(Proverbs 12:25, ESV)

But Jesus leaves us a gift – the divine peace!

27  Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you.

Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

(John 14:27, ESV)

God ensures that we are His workmanship (Ephesians 2:10, ESV), sealed with the promised Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:14). Wherever you go or do, let all that you do be done in love (1 Corinthians 16:14, ESV). May The LORD be with you!

By the way, this coming two Sundays (7/18 and 7/25), we are looking for volunteers to help sort out the remaining unconnected cables and label them. No experience is needed. The work starts at 1 pm, meet outside of Building A 1st-floor Sanctuary. Hope to see you there.
