Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As I shared in last week’s update, I am planning on implementing ideas that I learned from my Sabbatical. One of those lessons learned was the necessity and practice of pastoral visitation. To be honest (TBH), this is something I intend to spend more time on next week, but I do want to let you know that it lines up with what we are going through in Matthew.
This Sunday, we’ll be talking about a miracle that Jesus does that involved his own body, and it’s not the resurrection! But it is also in this miracle story that another person takes a bold step of faith and, as in the feeding of the 5000, does the impossible. (If you want a sneak peak, go ahead and read it: Matthew 14:22-33.)
These verses encourage me to try something new, to join Jesus where he is at, to practice regular pastoral visitation. But I am letting you know so that if I set up a time to meet with you, you’re not in trouble. I am just working on taking steps towards doing what Christ has put on my heart to do – to care for you through pastoral visitation.
Also, as promised from last week, we are going to take the next three weeks to review CBCGL’s Mission, CPC’s Vision, and the Measures for CPC. This week it is CBCGL’s Mission and the first measures for CPC (in relation to God).
What is CBCGL’s Mission? (It’s why we as a church even exist)
Glorify God, Love Others, Transform lives through Christ
What are CPC’s Measures (a way to tell if we are successful in our vision):
In relation to God:
a. How am I connecting with God through prayer and the Bible?
b. How am I obeying what I know our Lord has commanded?
c. How am I maintaining a clear conscience before God?
Please continue to pray for the nations of Iran and Israel/Gaza and Ukraine/Russia and Sudan.
