Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I suspect that many of us don’t bother to check the missions updates in the bulletin. Perhaps we think “I have to click a different page and then I have to spend like 5 minutes reading through the content. Nah.” So, to help you get the information, I’m fronting the missions update in today’s weekly update. Here is the update from Corey and Amy Havilcek.
“C & A serve as Bible translators with Wycliffe and have a burden to bring the Word of God to the local villages of Oaxaca in their native languages. Their family had been based in Oaxaca, and they returned to the States for a period with the start of the pandemic. They have returned to Mexico this year, and are looking for new ways to continue the work that God has prepared in advance for them to do.

Praises & Prayer Requests:
     1. Praise God for the successes that they have had in their work and the contacts that they have made among the Mixe people.
     2. Pray for their landlord to fix a leaky pipe in one of their walls as it may be a big, time-consuming process that could potentially require them to vacate their home during the repair process.
     3. Pray for God to prepare the way for their plans to return to the US for a short stay in July 2024 during which they hope to connect with some of their partners, schedule medical appointments, and attend a family reunion for Amy’s family. Please pray for all of the details surrounding this trip, that they will be able to make it back to the US next summer.
     4. C & A are looking to add several more financial partners to their prayer and support team as they are currently ~$1100/month short of their financial need. Please pray for God to raise up partners and resources for them. *If you would like more information on how to partner with them through prayer or finances, please visit wycliffe.org/partner/Havlicek

Also, please continue to pray for the nation of Ukraine. Pray that the war would end. Here is a suggested list of prayers if you are at a loss for words in how to pray: https://send.org/story/hh_pray_for_ukraine. Thank you for kneeling on behalf of the people of Ukraine and Russia, and taking a stand (or a knee in prayer) against the forces of darkness in this present age.

Administration / Events

1. We have a missions update (so check out the missions tab from the bulletin)! You can provide support for COCM (in England), for James Liang (at UConn), or Corey and Amy serving the Lord in Bible Translation work in Oaxaca, Mexico

2. Sunday is the final day to bring in new or used electronics to support the work of Benjamin Owino and Let the Needy Smile (in Uganda). Collections are from Sept. 3 to Oct. 8. For more information, check out the church announcement tab in the bulletin (Second Page).

3. Did you know that our buildings have been named/renamed? Check out the church announcement tab in the bulletin for more information.

4. Next Sunday, on October 15, from 1:30 to 4 pm, CrossPoint Community will host a training facilitated by the Gideon’s International called “Conversations: A Simple Approach to Sharing the Gospel.” We will meet in Room A-213 for a time of learning and discussion. We do need you to sign-up (just so that we can ask for an additional facilitator if we have more than 25 people signed up). It would be great if every participant in CrossPoint Community could join. Here is the link to sign-up: https://forms.office.com/r/v0GZLpBq7E

5. Sunday Lunch Service is available at CBCGL with $5 lunchboxes, but not this week due to the Holiday Weekend. To place an order, please use the following link: https://forms.office.com/r/nCwQnMruKv Orders are preferred to be placed as soon as you know, but need to be placed by Saturday night so that the kitchen can prepare the correct amount of food. Note: The selection which states “Number of Meals” refers to the cooked food/lunch box/Chinese food option.

6. All other announcements can be found here (in our CrossPoint Community bulletin).

For Prayer:

From Bishop J.C. Ryle – “To be prayerless is to be Christless, Godless, and in the high road to destruction…It will always be found that when prayers are few, grace, strength, peace, and hope are small.” Please join our Wednesday night prayer meeting (7:45 – 9:15 pm) even if you can’t participate the whole time.
