Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We have a new sign! When you come to worship this Sunday (in person, sign-up link below), you’ll get a chance to see the new sign. Thanks to the people at CBCGL who put in the work to plan, design, order and install this on behalf of our church!

A new sign can be beneficial. The newness of it, the visibility of it, the prominence of it all work to let people know that a church – our church – can be found in this location. I do know that signage can be used by God to bring people into the church. I’ve heard testimonies from former members that they drove by and saw our old sign and felt God leading them to check it out. It’s great to have an updated sign.

But a word of caution. A sign doesn’t replace our witness. A sign doesn’t enhance our witness. A sign provides information, though it doesn’t speak as a witness. The work of witnessing belongs to you and me – members of the body of Christ. We have been given the task of being a witness in the places we go. The way that we live our lives and the good works that we do enhance our witness. We might have information about our church, but we are to do more than simply tell people about our church. We are to share with others the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the fact that they are welcome to join the family of God.

One great thing about this sign is that it is near the entrance and exit. As I look at it, and head out from church, I am hoping to be reminded that you and I are better witnesses than the new sign.

This Sunday, May 16, we plan to worship together in-person. Whether you’re vaccinated or not, please come! We’ll be wearing face masks and practicing social distancing. Please sign up to join us in-person! Here is the link for that: https://forms.gle/mUsX6xAyiTmxiFto6

Now is the time to make your opinion known. The English Ministry Leadership is requesting that you vote on your prayerfully preferred name for our ministry. Select the name of your choice by May 21, at noon. You can do so here: https://forms.office.com/r/HfRjLd4qGq

Last but not least, Angie and I really do want to get to know you better. The Kingdom of God is not about programs; it’s about people! To get to know you better, we are scheduling conversations with the members and regular attendees of the English ministry. If you get an e-mail from us or a call from us, please do respond! If you want to sign up on your own, please use the following link. (You may need to copy this link and paste it into your browser.)
