Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Last Friday, we heard from three different individuals who have served in places that are dominated by Islam. Each was a witness for Christ, in their homes, in their churches, in the courtrooms, and even in their prisons. In the first two cases, if I remember correctly, the individuals were imprisoned for being a Christian.
Do you understand that you are a witness for Jesus? A witness is someone who testifies to the truth of what has happened. You can be a witness for Jesus by telling others what he has done in your life, how he has worked to answer prayers, what changes he has brought about by his Spirit. Do you understand that you are a witness for Jesus?
Put differently, if someone else were to look at your life, how you spend your time, your money, the things you say, would they be able to conclude that you are a Christian? Would they be able to indict you in a court of law based on the evidence? Would it be so obvious to those who see Christianity as a threat that they would throw you in prison?
Easter is coming up in just a couple of weeks. What would it look like for you to be a witness to others regarding the incredible, life-changing reality of Jesus’ resurrection that we celebrate? Jesus has conquered death; we have hope! Jesus has made us right with God; we can belong to God’s family! Jesus has taken our sin and its penalty; we can live holy, righteous, and godly lives in the present age!
One way that you could be a witness for Christ is to invite people to join the services and activities we regularly have. We worship God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit each Sunday. Another way you could be a witness for Jesus is to invite people to the Easter Weekend activities: the Good Friday Service, Easter Family Festival on Saturday afternoon, and Easter Sunday (with Baptisms!).
What will you do this week to be a witness for our Lord and God, Jesus Christ?

Additionally, please continue to pray for the nations of Israel and Ukraine. Pray that the wars would end. Here is a suggested list of prayers if you are at a loss for words in how to pray: https://send.org/story/hh_pray_for_ukraine. And https://worldrelief.org/blog-prayer-for-israel-and-gaza/ Thank you for kneeling on behalf of the people of Ukraine and Russia, Israel and Gaza and taking a stand (or a knee in prayer) against the forces of darkness in this present age.

For Prayer:

1. From Bishop J.C. Ryle – “To be prayerless is to be Christless, Godless, and in the high road to destruction…It will always be found that when prayers are few, grace, strength, peace, and hope are small.” Please join our Wednesday night prayer meeting (7:45 – 9:15 pm) even if you can’t participate the whole time.
